Table salt is added to just about every food source. Soft drinks, desserts, packaged foods, canned goods and most all processed foods contain excessive amounts of table salt.
What is table salt and how is it made? Did you think it was natural?
Table salt is manufactured. That's right, like a car is manufactured. It's a form of sodium called sodium chloride which is an ionic compound with the chemical formula NaCl, representing a 1:1 ratio of sodium and chloride ions. While similar to naturally occurring rock, crystal, or sea salt, table salt merely mimics the taste of these elements.
Now that we have learned that table salt is not natural at all, we can look closer into the manufacturing process.
Table salt is created by taking natural salt and cooking it at 1200° F. Once the unprocessed salt is heated up to this temperature, it starts to lose the majority of the eighty important elements that are naturally occurring rendering it nearly void of all nutrition.
Because of this process iodine is stripped out. Iodine is vital to a healthy thyroid so the chemical-based salt industry adds synthetic forms of iodine to their products. Other chemicals are also added to it to include everything from manufactured forms of sodium solo-co-aluminate, iodide, sodium bicarbonate, fluoride, anti-caking agents, toxic amounts of potassium iodide and aluminium derivatives, processed white sugar, toxic MSG. Then if that wasn't enough they bleach it white for esthetic value. Naturally occurring salt is every color but white.
Table salt has very little health benefit. It's actually detrimental to the human body. The preservatives in table salt can cause swelling and, over time, major kidney, thyroid and liver problems, as well as the development of goiters, asedema, hypertension, heart disease, strained elimination systems, muscle cramps, water retention, edema, stroke, heart failure, PMS, and even major nervous system disorders such as anxiety and depression. Other afflictions include diabetes, gout and obesity.
It is particularly hard on both the circulatory system and nervous system. It also wreaks havoc on the delicate balance of the lymph system in the body. Table salt is also highly addictive, as the more the body becomes used to the high levels of fake sodium, the more it craves.
According to Dr. Leonard Coldwell, "this may come as a shock, but table salt is comprised of sodium chloride and along with that it is often contaminated with sand and glass. Herein lies the problem. When you consume this lovely mixture the sand and glass are abrasive. They scratch and make small tears in your veins. Your body reacts by trying to patch and heal with fats (cholesterol). This often causes your body to make more cholesterol than needed and cause blockages and in more extreme cases can lead to stroke or heart attack".
So our bodies create cholesterol, the healing agent of the body, to repair the damage to the arterial walls caused by the sand and glass. Scar tissue appears which narrows the arteries and veins. As time goes on the veins become more and more narrow reducing the blood flow and the need for heart surgery and vein stents.
All you table salt junkies, the future is laid out before your very eyes. However all is not bleak. There is a wonderful natural alternative.
Himalayan Salt is one of the healthiest and purest natural salts available. The salt formed 250 million years ago when the sun dried up the original prehistoric ocean. It is completely perfect and natural and equal to the structure of the earliest primitive sea. The salt is full of minerals and nutrients that are found naturally in our bodies.

When making the switch to all natural sea salt or pink Himalayan salt always remember no salt is ever bright white in color unless it's processed. Expect your new choice of salt to be of many colors ranging from off white to pink, grey, black, red and even blue.
A personal message. I suggest the pink Himalayan salt. Sea salt can run the risk of contamination from pollution unless you know and trust your source. Himalayan salt is from the earth and is insulated from these contaminants.
